I've never seen a business so happy to turn away customers. They don't give a damn, even for regulars. Must be absolutely minted.
Fabulous food. Freshly made while you wait. Interesting selection. Always busy. Can sit in or take away. Bustling but friendly and attentive staff. Have been there many times and always try to fit a visit into my trips to oban.
I miss this place. I use to stay in Oban regularly and this was my favourite place to get fish and chips. Very sadly, I haven't been back in a few years and I have never been able to enjoy fish and chips like I did here! The haddock supper was heavenly. I have tried many chippies local to me, in search of that same culinary experience and have been disappointed time and time again! I hope I can enjoy another haddock supper there one day!
My wife and I called in at Oban fish and chip shop on a brief excursion whilst journeying down from Skye back home to Norfolk England yesterday at around 2.30pm. We were reasonably hungry so ordered two fish suppers and a curry sauce. Everything was freshly cooked by Gary the fryer and all we can say is that he is a master of his art. The haddock and chips were without doubt the best we've eaten anywhere around the UK. The batter was simply outstanding, really light and crisp the fish was beautifully cooked, chips chunky and perfect and the curry sauce was incredible.If you're in Oban and you're feeling peckish then buy your fish supper from Oban Fish and Chip Shop, it's very reasonably priced, spotlessly clean the staff are friendly and courteous and honestly we cannot recommend it enough! 10/10
Not merely good! This place had the very best fish & chips I have ever had. Very fresh, PERFECTLY prepared and a very generous portion. This is the place to get an extraordinary meal.
