A great wee restaurant that despite being a fairly recent addition to Oban is punching well above its weight.The dining room can seat around 20 covers, meaning David (co-patron with chef John) can look after every guest. Making sure the warm welcome and heartfelt goodbye are punctuated by David's attentiveness and passion for the food and drink he and John offer.I enjoyed an enormous fillet of hake that was cooked to perfection. Followed by a slow cooked shin of beef with a creamy smooth mash potato, accompanied by a fantastic bottle of claret. Every mouthfull was a delight and I have no hesitation in urging anyone who wants to enjoy the finest Scottish produce, treated with knowledge, love and respect and you're in Oban, go to Etive.
Scrumptious food... Recommended by a local pub. Child friendly (took time to explain things to the kids and tolerate questions in a friendly way), but with outstanding food and wine. Not to be missed.
By far the best food, service and dining experience we had in our 7 day trip to Oban. The owners clearly care about providing well presented and delicious food supported by a wide range of good wines, whisky and aperetif to suit the meal. Local, seasonal and fresh produce, expertly prepared to give a truly delicious meal. The owner is very knowledgeable on wines and will offer excellent advice. This is a restaurant for those who want to enjoy a dining experience not for a quick bite. Booking is often essential.
The food was delicious! The cozy atmosphere was very welcoming. The negroni and wine were awesome! Can't ask for more than great food and friendly, efficient service. I would highly recommend, but make sure to make reservations in advance!
