Enjoyed visiting the sheep and walking on the grounds, even though it was winter season, it was a relaxing walk...sorry I didn't get to visit the museum
Pleasant spot. The castle keep is pretty run down, more a spot to view the local area... And is a really good view. The 18th century house and gardens were an unexpected bonus. Kids had activity packs (limited, but gave them added interest). Nice easy going visit.... Recommended
All the staff were so very friendly and helpful. The museum was fascinating and the lady working there was very knowledgeable. The climb up to the castle is not too bad, and the views once you get there are stunning..
Exceptional curation, and dedication to the preservation of this beautiful castle and it's grounds. We had a perfect scone while listening to a young man play the bagpipes. Just divine.
A pleasant visit was had to this well maintained and historical building, plus the castle ruins nearby. It was self guided, with appropriate placarded information and items provided, to improve understanding of the people, politics and Royal movements of the time. Unfortunately access for those less able is compromised by needing to retain the age of the structure, such as steps (but for the ground floor). There is a small cafe present offering refreshments. At the time we were there, we were pleasingly entertained by a proficient young piper. Parking is nearby and free.
